New Christmas Ornaments and Decorating the Tree

This is one of our favorite traditions! We love shopping for an ornament that symbolizes each child, or their interest at the time, and they love getting something new to add to their collection. As we decorate the tree, it is so fun for each of them to make a pile of their ornaments from the past years. Most have broken parts, but they have all been well loved and the time spent reminiscing about their interests over the years has been so special. So there was a lot of excitement to get the tree up so they could open their new ornaments! This year Karly got a Jasmine ornament. The live action movie "Aladin" came out several months ago and there is a song called "Speechless" that she loves to sing every day. She was so excited to add this beautiful princess to her collection!
This year Olive got a microphone to symbolize her time in musical theater class and her first big performance on stage, including her first solo performance! She was very excited and has been singing many songs into this microphone.
Bentley boy got Harry Potter because he has been really into those books this year.
Eden got a "Camp Half-Blood" medallion from her current favorite books, the Percy Jackson series. Unfortunately I didn't get a better picture of her holding it up for the camera! Sorry Eden.
And this year, Brad and I each got each other a new ornament and it turned out that we purchased the exact same one! Great minds think alike. It is a key with the year and engraving for moving into a new house. We ended up giving one to grandma and grandpa which worked out perfectly since they got their new house this year too.
We also decided that now that we have this great big room, we will be purchasing a bigger tree. For now though, this one will be perfect to showcase all our memories.
And Ruby could hardly wait for us to finish decorating so she could claim her favorite spot on this cozy treeskirt. Merry Christmas everyone!

Such a fun tradition. I love seeing all the old ones and watching the littles gather their own.
