The girls were out in the playground playing and for a very long time Quaker watched them (from a safe distance of course). He's a funny dog. It sure is nice having him around as far as security goes. He is a big scared baby, but he sure doesn't look like it, which that appearance of security is all we need. :)

Girls to the Ballet!

One of the girls in my young women's group dances with a ballet company and had a big show at the Kimo Theater. I thought it was the perfect date for me and my girls to go watch the show together. It was so beautiful (and impressive!). All three girls left there wanting to be ballerinas. I love having these opportunities to make memories with these girls!

Foam Party in the Hot Tub
Ever since the pool and hot tub got reopened for the season, we have been getting a massive amount of foam coming from the hot tub when we turn on the jets. The kids think it's awesome and so much fun! If we leave the jets on, and just watch, the foam comes up over the sides and spills onto the ground. It's pretty crazy. Brad is determined to figure out what's going on and to stop this ASAP, but in the meantime, the kids are having a blast with it!

Eden's Girl Gang
Eden is very fortunate to be surrounded by some great girls. She is loving her more independent social life, away from all the younger siblings and planned "play dates". I am excited for her and this new chapter of friendship. Hopefully these girls will remain close as they take on the teenage years!

Some Thoughts on Resilience
On our porch, we have some big flower pots where we planted the seeds for these cute flowers. Several feet away, in the middle of the pool deck, one of these flowers has been growing up through the crack. I have watched it over the last several weeks and find it to be so cute, and it's given me lots of moments to reflect on resilience. Somehow, this tiny little seed blew out of the pot and eventually made it's way into this crack, and then got the water and sunlight it needed to begin to grow. Against all odds, it has grown with the little bit of dirt it could find. And miraculously, it has even escaped the tiny hands of many kids who run in and out of the pool, right over the top if it.
So to my kids - here are a few thoughts on resilience from your momma: when the winds of life try to blow us around, naturally we like to stay in our pot, exactly where we are supposed to be, surrounded by what's comfortable and familiar. But sometimes, we aren't always that lucky, and out of our "pot" we blow, into a big flat expanse of concrete. So now what? Do we shrivel up and dry out and cry for the pot we once had? Become a victim to the unfair wind and the terrible circumstances around us? Or do we fight to find some small crack of hope that lets us set in new roots? We keep looking, we expand our ideas, we adapt to what is out of our control and find a way to fight, to live, to grow, and to flourish.
Sometimes, especially in our inexperience, we will choose the first option and become a victim to circumstances. But hopefully, as time and experiences continue to teach us, we will more naturally fall into the second choice which allows growth, new opportunity, and power to be free wherever you land.

Some Cute Things About Olive
Book worm and bed head-

And her love of Amelia -
And Amelia, her doll- Olive loves her and makes sure to pause her reading long enough so Amelia can get her nutrition. Olive loves her doll, and she really adores the twins. She has such a nurturing side that is so sweet to watch.
Love you Olive girl!

Fun at Explora!
The kids thought it was an April Fool's joke when we picked them up from school and told them we were going to Explora with dad, grandma and grandpa, but it was no joke! It was such a great way to spend our Friday afternoon. Janie was even lucky enough to come along with us for the fun. We have been here many times, but there's always something new that catches each of their attention in a different way.
The water pool and creating dams and blocking the balls from going through was a team effort from the whole gang. It was teamwork at it's finest!

Eden loved looking at the photos of her eyeball through a water drop.
Karly loved the bubble room - classic favorite!Olive buddied up with this oddly ugly/adorable creature - the axolotl. Her and Bentley knew immediately what this creature was, thanks to Minecraft video game. I guess some of those games aren't completely useless.
On our way home from the museum, we stopped at Taco Cabana for some dinner.

It was a great Friday family adventure, and even more fun to have grandma and grandpa join us!
