Whenever her blankie would be around, Olive would suck her fingers and lay around and be lazy, which was pretty annoying. We got to where blankie was staying in her bed until nap or bedtime which seemed to solve that laziness problem. Well, we have taken an unfortunate turn and Olive's new comfort item is her baby sister. Major mom backfire. Anytime Olive sees Karly, she starts sucking her fingers and holds Karly's arm or leg. This usually accompanies taking away any toys Karly is playing with and trying to lay Karly down. I remember Bentley doing this a little bit to Olive when she was a baby, but it was nowhere near as possessive and frequent. If Karly is napping, Olive is off playing and running around, the second Karly comes around, Olive is hooked back on her. Fortunately, Karly is very patient. She tries to continue playing or doing what she was doing, even though she has one gimp arm or leg that has been taken over by her sister. This is one of those parenting dilemmas that has me totally stumped. I can't seem to break this weird obsession and it's driving us all (except Olive) crazy!!
Hang in there Karly - hopefully this will pass! Let us look at the bright side and be grateful that what she is doing is a very gentle thing!
