Cute little Eden

Usually when I get out the camera and before I even say anything to Eden, she automatically throws herself into this pose: head tilted, eyes normally looking away from the camera, and usually some weird expression or silly smile on her face...

This particular day though, for reasons still unknown to me, she was smiling so naturally and cute at the camera! I absolutely love these pictures because they capture so perfectly the precious smile of Eden's that I absolutely adore!

I Love My Family

Sleepy Eden

Eden has always been a huge fan of taking a nap. Every afternoon she tells me when she is ready to go up to her bed and she goes right to sleep. This particular day we weren't able to get a nap in for some reason and by about 5:30 that night she was absolutely exhausted! We were trying so hard to keep her awake and hold her off a little longer, including a bath (hence the fact that she's in a diaper), but our efforts were to no avail and she was completely out, sitting up and all!

Snow!

It's not even Christmas yet and Albuquerque has already had a couple really good snow storms and the snow has actually stuck around for a few days. It has definitely put us all in the Christmas spirit! Eden loves watching the snow fall out the windows, but being outside only lasts about 15 minutes at best. She enjoys walking around and watching her foot prints in the snow, but she touched it once, became shocked by how cold it was, and now refuses to touch it again.

Ruby on the other hand, I'm convinced must be part polar bear because this dog absolutely LOVES the snow. She has never spent so much time outside as she does when there's snow on the ground. She runs around in circles, rolls around and entertains her self out there for hours. Every once in a while she will come in the doggie door, warms up a bit, and then she heads right back outside. At least someone from our household is getting some serious enjoyment out of playing in the snow!

Brad's Birthday

This past Saturday we celebrated Brad's 31st birthday! We started the day off with some relaxation, getting massages, then in the afternoon we hung out as a family and opened birthday presents. That evening my mom came and stayed with Eden so Brad and I could go out on a date. We went to dinner and ate way too much food, and then went and saw Mission Impossible 4 in the theater. It was such a treat to go on a date, so we are so grateful for my mom and her willingness to watch Eden!

As long as I've known Brad, he has always talked about wanting a cotton candy machine. He said he always asked for one as a kid and never got it, and then after we got married he always asked for one for his birthday or Christmas and I finally gave in and got him one. I think it was his ultimate birthday wish come true!!

Eden was very helpful in opening the birthday presents.

The cool thing about this cotton candy machine is that you can use the sugar powder, or any type of hard candy. I bought a big bag of Jolly Ranchers and those make some very potent and flavorful cotton candy! Unfortunately, I'm not a huge cotton candy fan, and Eden took a couple bites, but as with any food she wasn't too thrilled so poor Brad had nobody to truly share in the excitement of it! He is anxiously waiting to take the cotton candy machine down to enjoy with our nieces and nephews who I'm sure will enjoy the cotton candy just as much as he does!

Happy birthday Brad! We love you!

21 Weeks

Everything with the pregnancy is going good. I feel good despite the fact that I am getting more and more round every day! A couple weeks ago I started getting the progesterone shots each week. The injections definitely leave my hip/butt feeling pretty sore for a while, but I'm on board for doing anything to me that may help protect this baby!

Thanksgiving weekend I got a stomach bug and unfortunately the throwing up and dehydration started some contractions that had us all a little worried. My mom was a lifesaver and came over to help out with Eden for a couple days so I could stay off my feet as much as possible until my ultrasound midweek where they were going to check my cervix and make sure the contractions weren't causing any changes. Fortunately, our prayers were answered and everything looked ok. They will continue to monitor me closely which I am grateful about.

So at my last ultrasound on Nov. 30th they confirmed that yes, we are still having a boy. I am so excited and love having these ultrasounds where I can watch him and feel so connected with him. He is still so tiny in there so these 3D images don't look fabulous, but it is so fun to see his features starting to form. He kept trying to hide his face, so the first shot is of the back of his head and you can see his tiny ear and hand.

Then he finally decided to look forward and give a little smile. I know it's so early to tell, but I think his nose already looks like Eden's nose!

We are definitely excited to be welcoming this baby boy into our home, but NOT anytime soon! We continue to pray every day that my body will work like it should and he'll stay put in there for a very long time still! In the meantime we will just enjoy these ultrasounds every couple weeks.

Thanksgiving

We had such an amazing Thanksgiving this year surrounded by family from both sides! Greg and his family came out from Colorado for a few days, and my parents and Erin also joined us for Thanksgiving day. This was the first time I've been in charge of Thanksgiving, and I can't say enough how grateful I am that I had Stephanie and my mom there to help me!! It all turned out so delicious thanks to those two women who ended up doing the hard stuff! We had a wide variety of foods to choose from, and everything was especially delicious this year!

I was struggling with the tears and severe eye stinging that comes along with cutting onions, and my mom told me to hold some match sticks in my mouth. I'll tell you, I was definitely suspicious that she was just messing with me, but I tried it and it really did help! Who knew!! Eden was also a very good little helper, especially when it came to peeling potatoes.

We loved having Greg and Steph's family here with us for a few days and we packed it full of games, movies, and playing. I absolutely love that Griffin is such a good friend to Eden. He does so much to help her have fun, and she loves to follow him around and play whatever he is playing. Usually Eden keeps herself somewhat close to wherever I am, but several times over the time Griffin was here I had to go find Eden and check on her because she was off playing somewhere. It was so great!

Somehow Ruby kept getting Madelyn's pacifier and was (in kind of a weird, creepy way) really enjoying it! She never did chew on it, there wasn't a single tooth mark in it, but we just kept catching her with it hanging out of her mouth as if she really was sucking on it! She is such a strange dog....

Unfortunately the weekend fun got cut a little short when Brad, Eden and I all came down with an awful stomach bug that started Friday night, but at least we got to enjoy Thanksgiving and a few fun days first! Thanks to all our family for coming and spending the holiday with us! We are truly so grateful to be blessed with such amazing families!
