Our Familiy Christmas Letter

Big changes for the Justices in 2012! From a new baby boy to preschool; from Bosque Farms, New Mexico to Riviera Maya, Mexico; from potty training to dance lessons, we’ve seen a lot this year.

Bentley James joined our family on April 17, 2012. He came late, Eden came early—we can’t get it right. As Lisa was on bed rest from January to March, we lived in beaut-i-ful Bosque Farms with Grandma and Grandpa Malarsie. Eden loved gathering eggs from the chickens, Lisa did a lot of reading, and Brad turned their house upside down with over-the-top holiday celebrations. Grandma and Grandpa took good care of us and it felt like a prolonged vacation.

In addition to his striking resemblance to Jack Jack from the movie The Incredibles, Bentley is a very happy boy that is quick to smile, laugh, and splash his sister in the tub. He is rough-and-tumble and is just beginning to figure out how to crawl—kind of. Ruby, our little dog, has learned that hanging out around his high chair during meal time has proven profitable. He brought healing to our home after so many emotional ups and downs with the issues related to Eden’s prematurity.

Eden is our sweetheart and so fun. She has accomplished many feats this year—going to nursery at church all by herself, going to preschool, and just starting dance lessons to name a few. She is very much into dancing and singing—and instantly joins along the moment Brad starts into something. She and Lisa do lots of crafts together. Even though she has made great progress, Eden still has the trach, and it looks like that will remain for a few years, and eating continues to be a challenge. She is kind to her younger brother, but definitely has requested more special time with Lisa. One of the best parts of having a three-year-old in the house is that she says really funny things. For example, every day at dinner she puts her hand on her chin and asks Brad very casually, “Sooooo, how was your day?” And the other day as she was stabilizing herself from a bunch of dizzy-making spins she said, “Whoa, Mom, my house is so busy!”

Lisa is the best mom. She loves on the kids and is very active with them. They take adventures to the Biopark, Zoo, Explora, mall (to ride the carousel horses of course), play time, nap time, backyard time, craft time, and on and on. The kids adore her, as does Brad. Every once in a while she gets out to a Girls’ Night Out with friends. Her younger sister, Erin, has been living with us since August.

Brad continues his career at Northwestern Mutual as a financial advisor and managing director. He loves what he does and with whom he works. He comes home and plays hard with the kids. This year he spent time working on real estate and serving at Popejoy Hall. He continues to spice up most places he goes.

We wish you the best in 2013 and hope to be together with you soon!

Happy Holidays, with love,

Brad, Lisa, Eden, and Bentley
